Instructions: The audio clip presented here is a conversation between two students who are talking about the weather in Rajasthan  and Ladakh. This conversation is an Interpersonal activity aimed at developing speaking skills of Hindi learners who are at Intermediate level. Two students should practice speaking as they listen to the audio clip. Student 1 is Saanvi, and student 2 is her  friend, Malaika. Parents may role play with their children to practice this conversation. Students are requested to listen to the audio clip carefully, play it second time, and underline the key words given below. After you listened to the conversation, please try to complete the activities. You may use a web dictionary such as www.shabdkosh.com to find out the meanings of new words.

सान्वी : नमस्ते मलाइका ,आप कैसी हैं?

मलाइका : नमस्ते, सान्वी ! मैं अच्छी हूँ। आप कैसी हैं,सान्वी?

सान्वी :  मैं अच्छी हूँ। आपकी गरमी की छुट्टियाँ कैसी रहीं? 

मलाइका :  मैं गरमी की छुट्टियों में भारत गई थी। मैं राजस्थान गयी थी। वहाँ बहुत गरमी पड़ती है ।

सान्वी : आप राजस्थान घूमने गयी थीं?

मलाइका : नहीं, मैं अपने दादा-दादी से मिलने गयी थी। मेरे दादा-दादी जोधपुर में रहते हैं। उनके साथ बहुत मज़ा आया।


सान्वी : क्या आपको गरम मौसम में घूमना अच्छा लगा?

मलाइका: मुझे गरमी में घूमना पसंद है । राजस्थान में गरमियों में तापमान 125 डिग्री फारेनहाइट रहता है। राजस्थान में बहुत रेत होती है और वहाँ बहुत कम पेड़-पौधे होते हैं। इसलिए राजस्थान को भारत का गरम रेगिस्तान कहते हैं। क्या आपको ठंडा मौसम पसंद है?

सान्वी : हाँ मुझे ठंडा मौसम पसंद है। ठंडे मौसम में बर्फ गिरती है। मुझे बर्फ में फिसलना अच्छा लगता है। मैं पिछले वर्ष लद्दाख़ गयी थी। वहाँ बहुत ठंड पड़ती है। लद्दाख में बहुत बरफ होती है और बहुत कम पेड़-पौधे लगते हैं। लद्दाख में ठंड के मौसम में तापमान 32 से -18 डिग्री फारेनहाइट होता है। लद्दाख को भारत का ठंडा रेगिस्तान कहते हैं।

मलाइका: मुझे तो लद्दाख़ के बारे में सुनकर ठंड महसूस हो रही है। क्या आपको बरसात का मौसम पसंद है?

सान्वी : हाँ, मुझे बरसात का मौसम बहुत पसंद है, क्योंकि बरसात के  मौसम में पेड़-पौधे हरे-भरे हो जाते हैं। मुझे बारिश में भीगना और नहाना अच्छा लगता है। क्या आपको बारिश पसंद नहीं है?

मलाइका: नहीं, मुझे बारिश बिल्कुल पसंद नहीं है क्योंकि बारिश में चारों तरफ़ पानी भर जाता है। हमारे घर के पास पार्क में और सड़क पर भी पानी भर जाता है। हमें घर में ही खेलना पड़ता है। 

सान्वी : हाँ, बरसात के  मौसम  में घूमना फिरना मुश्किल हो जाता है। 

मलाइका: हाँ, भारत जाने के लिए बरसात का मौसम ठीक नहीं है। मैं अपने पिता जी से कहूँगी कि अगले वर्ष गरमी की छुट्टियों में भारत चलें।

सान्वी : मैं भी अपने पिता जी से कहूँगी कि भारत जाने के लिए बारिश का मौसम ठीक नहीं है।

मलाइका: अब मैं चलती हूँ। अच्छा, फिर मिलेंगे। नमस्ते!

सान्वी : ठीक है, फिर मिलेंगे। नमस्ते!
