गिर राष्ट्रीय उद्यान के शेर 

गिर राष्ट्रीय उद्यान भारत के गुजरात राज्य में है। यह उद्यान एक सौ साल से भी अधिक पुराना है। गिर राष्ट्रीय उद्यान में एशियाटिक शेर रहते हैं। गिर राष्ट्रीय उद्यान एकमात्र ऐसा जंगल है जहाँ एशियाटिक शेर पाए जाते हैं। यहाँ लगभग 523 शेर हैं ।

शेर को जंगल का राजा कहते है। शेर या सिंह बिल्ली परिवार का बड़ा, शक्तिशाली और आकर्षक जानवर होता है। यह आकार में बाघ से थोड़ा छोटा होता है। शेर अपने परिवार के साथ झुंड में रहना पसंद करते हैं।

शेर की गरदन के बालों को आयाल कहते है। शेर का वजन 180 से 225 किलोग्राम तक होता है और इसकी लंबाई 2.5 से 3 मीटर तक होती है ।

शेर लगभग 40 किलोमीटर प्रति घंटे की गति से दौड़ सकता है। यह लगभग 12 फुट ऊंची और 40 फुट लंबी छलांग लगा सकता है। शेर की दहाड़ 5 मील दूर तक सुनाई देती है।

गिर राष्ट्रीय उद्यान में शेर के अलावा तेंदुआ, चीतल, नीलगाय और चौसिंगा जैसे जानवर भी होते है। यहाँ रात के समय नाईट सफारी का आनंद भी ले सकते है।
