Periyar National Park पेरियार राष्ट्रीय उद्यान

पेरियार राष्ट्रीय उद्यान भारत के दक्षिण में है। यह केरल के इडुक्की और पथानामथिट्टा जिले में स्थित है। पेरियार राष्ट्रीय उद्यान एक संरक्षित क्षेत्र है। पेरियार राष्ट्रीय उद्यान एक कृत्रिम झील के किनारे स्थित है । झील के आसपास  हाथियों के झुंड देखे जा सकते हैं। यह 357 वर्ग मील क्षेत्र में फैला हुआ है। यहाँ के प्रमुख वन्य जीव हाथी और बाघ हैं। 2008 में यहाँ 24 बंगाल टाइगर की गिनती की गयी थी। यहाँ सांभर, जंगली सुअर, भारतीय विशाल गिलहरी, त्रावणकोर उड़ान गिलहरी, जंगली बिल्ली, नीलगिरि तहर, नीलगिरि लंगूर आदि जानवर भी रहते हैं । यहाँ नाव की सवारी बढ़िया अनुभव है। अक्टूबर से जून तक के महीने पेरियार राष्ट्रीय उद्यान जाने के लिए सबसे उपयुक्त समय है। पेरियार से ११८ किलोमीटर दूर कोट्टायम शहर है। कोट्टायम रेलमार्ग से जा सकते हैं। हवाई मार्ग से भी पेरियार पहुँच सकते हैं। यहाँ के नजदीकी हवाई अड्डे हैं- कोच्चि और मदुरै।
